The Academy is free for teachers (school email), for students in a class (join code), and for U.S. military veterans. Learning on your own, with no teacher? The Academy is included with a Playtime app subscription ($4.99/month or $39.99/year): create your account and subscribe in the app, then sign in here with the same email — or Continue with Google or Apple. That is the only way in for a solo learner; there is nothing to buy or create on this site. One subscription covers the app and the Academy, and a school email or veteran status discounts it. Maestro Academy is the web companion to Playtime, the mobile practice studio — on the App Store for iPhone and iPad, and on Google Play for Android. Your Playtime account works on both, your progress and AI assistant carry across — and a Playtime subscription includes full Academy access. For learners without a teacher, the app is also where the account and the subscription begin — see /solo.

Yes — use the same email and password you use in the app, or the Continue with Apple / Continue with Google buttons if that's how you sign into Playtime. Signing in this way also links Miles, the AI teaching assistant, to your app account.

Use the Continue with Apple or Continue with Google button on the sign-in page — those accounts don't have a password to type.

Yes — every account signs in with an email address and a password. Most schools issue student email addresses; any address works, but a school one also makes the Academy free.

Tick the “I'm a U.S. military veteran” box when you sign up, or later on your account page. It's an honor-system thank-you: the Academy is free for vets, plus a discount on the Playtime app.

Your account holds your email (for sign-in and password resets), a display name, an avatar, your instrument and grade band, and flags for whether your address matched a school we recognize or you told us you're a veteran.

Beyond the account, the Academy keeps the work you do here, because that's what a progress bar and a gradebook are made of: game scores, XP and streaks, Journey stars, which skills you're strong and shaky on, quiz attempts and the individual answers you gave, lesson and module progress, and messages between you and your teacher.

Your display name and avatar are public inside the Academy — they appear on leaderboards and on a teacher's screen, sometimes projected to a class. Pick a name you're happy for a room to see. Your email is never shown to other students.

IP addresses are used to rate-limit and block abuse, not to build a profile. The Privacy Policy and Terms are the authoritative word on how any of it is used and shared.

Everything you do in their class: your scores and progress, every quiz attempt and the answers you picked, which skills you're finding hard, and any messages between you. That's the point of a class — it's how they know who needs help.

A teacher sees this only for students in their own classes. If you also play on your own, that work sits under the same account and is visible to them too. Learning on Individual Pathways with no class means no teacher sees any of it.

Not from the site yet — there's no self-serve delete button, and we'd rather say so than imply otherwise. Ask through the contact form and we'll handle it.

Two things worth knowing in the meantime. Records here are retained rather than erased — when a teacher removes you from a class, the enrollment is marked removed and your work stays attached to your account rather than being wiped. And a teacher removing you from a class does not delete your account; you keep your progress and can join another class.

Every account needs a working email address and a password, and the Academy stores the schoolwork described above. Read the Privacy Policy before your child signs up — it's the document that governs this, and it covers parental rights and how to make a request about your child's data.

If your child is joining through a school, that school has usually made this decision for its students already, and their office is the fastest place to ask what was agreed. If you'd rather your child use the Academy without a class, sign up yourself and let them work under Individual Pathways — no teacher, no roster, no class leaderboard.

Use Forgot your password? on the sign-in page — a reset link goes to your email. If you sign in with your Playtime account, you can also reset it in the app.

Go to Create a teacher account and sign up with your school email address. We check it against our directory of school domains, then email you a link to confirm you own the address.

It's how we validate real educators — and validation is what makes the Academy free for you and your students.

You'll see a “we don't recognize that school yet” note. Use the contact form with your school's name and website and we'll add it quickly.

Check your spam folder, and resend it from the “verify your email” page after signing up. The link comes from our Academy address.

Yes — the Academy is free for you and for every student in your classes. Teachers and students also get a discount on the Playtime app.

Share your class code (or the invite link, which fills it in). Students go to Join a class, enter the code, and sign up with their email — school email if they have one — and a password. They verify the email once, then they're in your roster.

On your Classes dashboard — each class has its own short code you can read aloud in the room or drop into an assignment.

Build lessons and assign modules, run the Quiz Studio, grade work, message students, see per-student analytics, schedule video lessons, and host live games for the whole class.

Miles chat runs on your own Playtime account's AI allowance, so it needs a Playtime subscription — discounted with your school email. Classes, lessons, quizzes, grading and analytics stay free for teachers; Miles is the one thing that doesn't come with it.

Tick the veteran box at sign-up for the thank-you — it's also its own path to the Playtime discount.

No. For teachers, classes, lessons, quizzes, grading and analytics are free. A Playtime subscription adds the Miles AI assistant — and for learners outside a classroom, it's what includes Academy access.

Get the class code from your teacher, go to Join a class, and sign up with your email (school email if you have one), a password, and your instrument. You'll get an email link to verify — tap it, then sign in.

Get Playtime, create your account and subscribe in the app ($4.99/month or $39.99/year), then sign in here with the same email (or Continue with Google/Apple), choose Learner, and leave the teacher-code box blank. Maestro. Every week he assigns a unit from the Academy's curriculum with links to the exact lessons and games, checks in when you go quiet, reads your quiz results, keeps your goal in mind and writes a progress report — all from your Pathways page. When you're stuck mid-question, ask Miles.

Classroom means you joined a teacher's class — you'll get their assignments and show up on their roster. Individual Pathways is solo and self-paced — with Maestro, the AI teacher, setting your weekly assignments, reading your results and writing your progress report.

Yes. From your Pathways page, enter a teacher code any time to move into that teacher's Classroom.
